The exploitation of captive tigers

The number of tigers in captivity now outnumber wild tigers by around 2 to 1. So why are there so many in captivity? Are they all in zoos or wildlife conservation centres to help boost wild populations? The answer, rather predictably, is no, despite such claims made to an unsuspecting public.
